Monastery and the primary school We arrange homestay at Brabal village (2200m) where stone and wood cabins dot the mountain sides, between fields of apple trees, waving wheat, corn, barley and vegetables. Activities available to make your homestay enjoyable:
- Weaving traditional handicrafts such as hats, belt, sheep wool coat, bags, carpets.
- Learn wood carving from one of the local master carvers.
- Learn Tamang language, listen to folk stories.
- Visit the herbal farm.
- Hike around the thick forest of Langtang National Park.
- Watch animals like wild boar, barking deer, gray langoor, many species of birds, etc.
- Go ploughing with the family in their field.
- Volunteer at the Brabal Primary School. Teach English language.
- Enjoy Tamang songs and dance.
- Learn to make locally fermented drink "rakshi".
- Witness the Tamang Shamanic activities.
- Meditate in the Tsedup Chokling Monastery.

Homestay programs are available from one week to six weeks on a two day rotation basis to make sure every house gets an opportunity to host you. Accommodation is arranged on one family per person basis. You eat what the host family eats and feel free to take part in their daily chores. Payment is made straight to the host family. There are trekker's tea shops in Brabal where you can get basic meals, apple pancake, chowmein, instant noodles, soft drinks, etc. The nearest market is about two hours walk.
