Tamang Heritage Trail (8 days) |
 An Tamang elderly in her traditional attire Tamang Heritage trail trek is a newly established route where the journey takes you deep through the Tamang settlements giving you wonderful opportunity to meet authentic Tamang people and witness their ancient traditional culture. This trek also includes spectacular 180 degree views of the Langtang Lirung mountain, Ganesh Himal mountain range and other Tibetan mountain range from Nagthali above Bremdang (4th day). Bremdang is also home to the healing spring hotwater where you can soak and relax your muscles after a long climb up from Gatlang. Watch out for jungli chickens, Himalayan grey langoor, musk deer, etc.
The area is located north of Kathmandu towards the Tibet border of Kyirong. The mountain views, local Tamang village settlements with their unique house structures, handwoven crafts as well as wooden handicrafts, hot spring baths, fresh yak cheese, songs and dances of the ever smiling Tamang people, amazingly beautiful trails passing through many rhododendron forests and tall sal trees are the main highlights of the trek. DAY 1
| Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi (roughly 8 hours). Overnight at Buddha Hotel.
| DAY 2
| Trek to Gatlang Tamang village. Roughly 7 hours. Scenic trails, beautiful Tamang villages. Overnight in community lodge.
| DAY 3
| Trek to Bremdang (Enjoy Hotspring). Beautiful mountain views and walk through many Tamang villages.Ovenighth in hotel. | DAY 4
| Trek to Nagthali, enjoy the ultrawide panoramic views of the Ganesh mountain ranges. Continue to Thumen. Overnight in hotel. | DAY 5
| Trek to Timure. Timure used to be old trading route between Kathmandu and Kyirong, the Tibet border town.Overnight in lodge.
| DAY 6
| Trek to Bridhim. Stay overnight with Tamang family. Bridhim has a beautiful record of homestays with Tamang families.
| DAY 7
| Trek from Bridhim to Syabru Bensi. Roughly three hours and easy downhill. Stay at Hotel Buddha. | | DAY 8 | Ride back to Kathmandu. Transfer to your hotel.
